Our difference: the Declarative paradigm

Leave the manual and repetitive tasks to our platform: you simply declare what you want to achieve. Reduce processing time and human errors, Save time and costs. And enhance the SQL skills already in the company.

Simplify your work with SQL and AI

Unlike other platforms, Irion EDM uses SQL, which is internationally considered a standard data management language and also widely adopted in Large Language Models (LLM) training such as GPT. In this way, you can get the most out of generative artificial intelligence tools, for example, when writing your queries. And you won’t have to learn proprietary languages.

Core technologies: the declarative core of Irion EDM®

DELT™

Through its algorithms, the DELT™ (Declarative ELT) engine orchestrates and synchronizes the data processing and control plan. It enables data professionals to work in a self-adaptive, metadata-driven environment.

EasT®

Exposes each dataset involved in processing as a virtual table (or set) with a relational model. Any data set, in any format or produced in other processing steps is appropriately mapped.

IsolData™

It creates and manages numerous virtual databases in a single physical database, analogous to the hypervisor model of virtual machines: it represents Irion EDM ®’s ability to isolate-in a dedicated workspace-everything needed to process a solution.

In real life, our behaviors follow a declarative paradigm: we request a result without specifying how to achieve it. Who would dictate a recipe to a waiter in a restaurant to prepare a dish? Every day, we interact with others by communicating what we need and receiving what we asked for. We aren’t experts in everything, and we know that, generally, better results are achieved by delegating tasks to those with experience and expertise.

In the IT world —particularly in Data Management—the prevailing approach has been procedural (ETL-based), where even the technical details for an application’s functionality are meticulously defined. But is it really the only possible option? Is it really necessary, in data-intensive tasks, to describe everything, break it down into subprocesses, and specify the intermediate structures needed for transformations, aggregations, and reporting?

Must we explicitly indicate the sequence in which these elementary operations should be executed, anticipating all possible scenarios? The answer to these questions is: no. Even in ‘data-intensive’ processes, the declarative paradigm can greatly simplify the development team’s work and deliver results more closely aligned with the client’s expectations.

The benefits, in summary

Reduce the cognitive load of Data Management tasks on the development team: with the declarative approach, there’s no need to break down the process into intermediate steps—the software automatically determines how to create and manage these as needed for time and space efficiency. The platform autonomously decides how, when, and with which resources to execute the required operations, optimizing the entire workflow, including manual and repetitive tasks.

Even data engineers with minimal experience will be able to manage ETL pipelines, thanks in part to the appropriate interfaces: in fact, the platform takes care of the operational complexities and procedural aspects, allowing data engineers to focus on and greatly simplifying the creation and management of data pipelines.

Increase productivity, reduce complexity, and shorten delivery times: instead of focusing on managing operational details, the team can concentrate on business requirements. The system automatically generates controls, audits, and all necessary procedures to ensure data quality and compliance, optimizing tasks and minimizing the risk of errors.

In every data pipeline, all metadata is automatically included in a Data Catalog to support Governance: By adopting the declarative paradigm, the platform autonomously and continuously manages metadata. All information related to the pipeline is tracked and integrated into the catalog, enabling effective governance without manual interventions or additional procedures.

Learn the fundamental components of the declarative approach in data-intensive processes. Just as a traditional operating system manages the various instances of a running program, ensuring the segregation of address spaces (RAM memory allocated to the process), so the Irion EDM® platform coordinates and optimizes multiple parallel executions of dependency graphs (DELT™) each capable of interacting with uniformed (EaST®), segregated and virtually unlimited (IsolData™) data structures.
